Becoming a Commercial Pilot

Do you harbor dreams of taking to the skies? Do you think that you’d enjoy a job that would let you travel the world, seeing things that you’ve never seen before? Do you know, beyond a doubt, that you are not afraid of heights? If so, then you might want to consider becoming a commercial air pilot. While this job is going to be hard; while you are going to have to study your transportation textbook vigorously to get your pilot’s license—you’re going to find that it’s well worth the hard work that you’re going to have to put into it. Don’t let a little bit of studying prevent you from reaching great heights (literally!).
Of course, one of the first subjects that your transportation textbook is going to cover is that of airway safety. Flying a commercial jet, you’ll soon see, is not exactly like driving a bus. Indeed, there are a lot of things that you’re going to have to account for, here—a lot of monitors to watch over, and a lot of controls that you’re going to have to learn. And whether or not it’s occurred to you, there are a lot of planes up there in the sky! To make sure that you’re keeping all of your passengers safe, you are going to have to be sure that you have taken your safety chapters to heart—that you have learned how to communicate with the control tower, and that you know how to keep all of your monitors in mind to prevent any accidents from happening.
Your transportation textbook is also going to devote a great deal of time to explaining the lifestyle that you are getting yourself into. Back in the day, depression was very common amongst the pilots of commercial jets. Many of them did not know what they were getting themselves into. They did not know that they were going to be on the move constantly, and that they’d often have to go days without seeing their families. They may not have understood that they’d be spending a lot of time in foreign countries, and that they’d be spending the vast majority of their waking hours behind a flight console. If you pay attention to the lifestyle chapters of your transportation textbook, then none of these things are going to grab you by surprise. Be sure that you read them carefully!
Finally, your transportation textbook is going to make sure that you’re familiar with the process of getting your pilot’s license. More specifically, it’s going to make sure that you meet the most essential requirements before you move forward. You are going to have to pass a vision test, here. Likewise, you are going to have to pay a (admittedly mild) physical fitness test, just to make sure that you are not going to be injured by spending all of your time in a pressurized cabin. Granted that you meet the base requirements, you are going to be able to move forward without a hitch. You’ll be in flight school before you know it.
Becoming a commercial pilot is not going to be easy, but if you pick up a good text at your campus store, then you are going to be able to make sure that you are studying and moving in the right direction.
